Heading Back to school

AUGUST IS THE MONTH WHERE YOUR SUMMER IS ENDING AND YOU ARE HEADING BACK TO SCHOOL.

HERE ARE A FEW BACK TO SCHOOL TIPS:
  • SPEND SOME TIME PRAYING OVER THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR, OVER YOUR CLASSES AND TEACHERS.
  • RE-EVALUATE YOUR FRIENDSHIPS. SHOULD YOU CONTINUE HANGING WITH THE GROUP OF FRIENDS THAT YOU HUNG AROUND WITH LAST YEAR. ALLOW GOD AND THE HOLY SPIRIT TO HELP YOU MAKE THAT DECISION.
  • FIND A FEW SCRIPTURES THAT YOU CAN SPEAK OVER YOUR SCHOOL YEAR EVERY DAY. REMEMBER WHAT YOU SPEAK WITH YOUR MOUTH AND BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART WILL COME TO PASS.
  • GO SCHOOL SHOPPING WITH SOME FEW FRIENDS OR EVEN YOUR PARENTS TO GET SOME COOL CLOTHES FOR SCHOOL.
  • HAVE A BACK TO SCHOOL PARTY TO ENJOY YOUR LAST FEW DAYS OF SUMMER.

Friendships

This month we have been talking about relationships and friendships. To even learn how to be the kind of friend we need to be with each other, we must look at the best example ever, Jesus. The Bible says in John 15:13-15, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you"

Although Jesus is the Son of God, he wouldn't look at his friends as servants, but as friends and would teach them the things of God. That really can preach. We are not just supposed to hang out and kill time with your friends, but you should be teaching them and sharing the things of God with each other. In Proverbs 27:17 it says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another". We need to sharpen each other up in the things of God and not tare each other down.

I challenge you when you are hanging out with your true friends; the ones that would look out for you and stand up for you; encourage each other in the Word. Talk about the great things God is doing in your life. Hey, even stand in agreement and pray with each other. Not only will that grow you friendship closer, but it will give you the courage to do that with a random stranger that might need to hear a friendly or kind word.

Remember that best friend you can ever have is Jesus. Model yourself in His image and be the kind of friend that Jesus would want you to be.

Are you Cultivating?

Although we may not have many nights at Powerhouse this month, remember to study and get into the Word on your own. This month we are talking about cultivating good relationships. It's good to have good relationships with parents, teachers, and friends. But most importantly, with God. It's your choice to build on that relationship with your heavenly Father. Each day, talk with Him, pray and seek what He is trying to teach you. To cultivate means to prepare the ground for growths by tilling and labor and care. Prepare your heart, refine it, and let the Lord grow deep roots in your life. Now that's the kind of good relationship to have.

In Loving Memory

Julie Bagley went to be with the Lord last weekend. She was an awesome woman of God and always walked with the Lord. Although it might be hard to say "goodbye", it is only for a short time. We are on this earth for only a speck of time compared to eternity. Make everyday count while you are on this earth. Make an impact on your family, friends, and everyone you meet. Make an impact that will change their lives forever and share the love of Jesus to them. We are here on this earth to share that unconditional love of Christ and to be an example. That is what Julie was. She was an example, she shared God's love, and cared to everyone. She was one the of the most faithful young ladies I knew. She always had a smile and did everything with excellence. She will be missed at powerhouse but she will never be forgotten.

Remember that this earthly body we are in is only temporary. One day we will be with our Lord. Please make sure that your Lord is Jesus Christ! Romans 10:9-10

I'm including the following article that was written by Julie a few years ago. This is in memory of her life and dedication as a servent of the Lord Jesus Christ!

Do You Live The Truth?
Julie
The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:8 to let our minds dwell on what is true, pure, honest, and lovely. We know the Word of God is true because we have proof that it works and we have revelation of the Word through the Holy Spirit. But there are some times when the truth does not seem as clear. What if you are the only person who believes it? Is it any less true? What if someone else believes something else to be true? Can there be two truths? Or can truth be judged on an individual basis?

No, no and NO!

This summer you have all experienced God’s truth through His love, His power, and His anointing in your lives. Do not let Satan plant the seed of doubt in your head. Do not be conformed to popular beliefs. Just because they’re popular doesn’t make them true. I encourage all of you to get into the Word of God. How will you know something is false until you first know what is true? Study His Word so that the truth is such a part of you that no falsehood can go unrecognized.

Happy Easter!

It is the day we all celebrate!!! Easter is almost here & Jesus is alive!!! Over 2,000 years ago Jesus came to the Earth, lived a Godly, pure life without sin, went to the cross & died, all for us! He had us in mind as He was beat & as a thorns were pushed into His head. He did it out of love for us so we could go to Heaven!! If that doesn't give you a reason to celebrate & praise Him, not sure will get ya moving!

If you get a chance this weekend share Jesus with someone. The world is searching for something stable & secure right now & who better to introduce them to than Jesus. Invite them to church Sunday, we are going to have some awesome ministry from the Powerhouse drama team & choir!
